Fraunces Tavern Museum’s collection is comprised of artifacts, paintings, drawings and documents related to the colonial, revolutionary, and early federal periods of American history, with a focus on New York. The Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York have been collecting such objects since their founding in 1876. The Sons found a fitting home for their collection when they purchased and restored Fraunces Tavern in 1904 and opened it as a museum in 1907. For nearly a century now, artifacts from everyday to one-of-a-kind items have given visitors insight into life in New York and America during the 18th century.
