Just across the Charles River is the City of Cambridge, often referred to as Boston’s “Left Bank”, Cambridge is rich in cultural diversity. Over 100,000 residents live in this area of roughly six square miles. Home of Ivy League Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) it’s a young vibrant city and if you are visiting Boston, It’s worth the trip across the river.

Cambridge has a good mix of unique shopping, theatres, museums, and historic sites. Harvard Square, is loaded with dining, shopping, bookstores, and entertainment options. During warmer months, street performers entertain shoppers and tourists alike. In North Cambridge, Porter Square has the region’s largest number of Japanese restaurants and shops.

Don’t miss the Harvard Art Museum (it’s now one, singular museum) collections at the Sackler gallery (Fogg and Busch Reisinger are closed until 2013) and the world famous Blaschka Glass Flowers (as well as dinosaurs and hundreds of animals) on display at the Harvard Museum of Natural History.

Also located near Harvard Square is the highly acclaimed American Repertory Theatre. Take the MBTA Red Line from Boston to get to Cambridge.
