Mijas Hipodromo

The Mijas Hipodromo takes full advantage of the Costa del Sol climate by being able to hold races all year round. Many UK horse owners bring their horses over to Mijas once the UK seasons has finished. Situated in between El Chaparral Golf, close to the coast, the Hipodrome boasts excellent facilities and is now considered the largest leisure complex on the Costa del Sol.

 

The Mijas Hipodromo complex current facilities include:

A beautiful residential hotel, complimented by several bars, cafes and restaurants and a souvenir shop.

Extended stables with currently 414 boxes fully equipped, with 12 boxes in the paddock and 80 boxes at the ridding school.

Riding school that can cater to over 100 students. The riding school has had students participate in jumping competitions, and held championships for national and international level competitions.

Sports centre, including an 8 lane Olympic Athletics ground, a gymnasium and a grass field for events. The athletics stadium has seating for 1,000 people and has floodlights to allow sports events at night time.

Children’s play centre, baby-park (from 0-3 years), ball park, jumping, sport track, face painting and a coffee bar. The children’s play centre can be hired for birthdays and parties.

Football school and academy. Facilities include a natural grass pitch, training room and dressing rooms.

Karting Mijas, Situated beside the Costa del Sol Racecourse, the track is 970 meters long and there are different types of karts available for adults, children and two-seater karts. Karting Mijas also has a members club and shop for Karting equipment and accessories.

Lots of free onsite parking.

Equinotherapy Centre for the attention of children with disabilities.

A special dog hotel is available to allow pet owners to enjoy the horseraces.

 

Sunday Flea Market

Every Sunday there is also a flea market held at the Mijas Hipodromo from 9:00 to 14:00. The market has over 200 stalls selling a wide selection of second hand items. Some Hipodromo bars and restaurants are open during the market, and the children’s play centre is also open.
