Local Heritage
Castle of Sohail Located on the western side of Fuengirola and overlooking the town and beach is the Sohail castle. Originally built in 956 by Abd-ar-Rahman III ( Emir and Caliph of Córdoba) to strengthen the coastal defenses. The castle is used nowadays for festivals and events. During renovations, Roman ruins were found dating back from 300 BC. These Roman ruins are now on public display.
