Mijas has no McDonalds, Burger King, or KFC. In fact, there are no fast food outlets in the town and we are proud of that. For locals who want to get a takeaway there is only one place to go – Asador Pollos. Luckily for us, it also happens to sell the best roast chicken on the planet.
Asador Pollos is run by Angel and Sandra for years, they make fantastic roast chicken and the best homemade croquet we have ever tasted. They also have ribs, stew, chicken pies, salads along with wine, beer, and soft drinks.
To top all of this is the famous homemade secret sauce. Every time we visit, we try to prise the secrets from them but Angel is adamant that he doesn’t know the recipe and Sandra will not disclose her secret.
We know of several people that travel from Malaga and Calahonda to visit Mijas just to have the opportunity to try the chicken again. During the summer, regular visitors to Mijas that are in the know can be seen queuing up for food. Further proof is the number of cars that park illegally nearby just to grab some of their famous food.
But a word of warning, once all the chickens are sold, thats it for another day. If you are visiting Mijas, try Asador Pollos run by Angel and Sandra, ask for some sauce and the best roast chicken on the planet.
Located on Avenido de Mexico, close to the entrance to the town, they are open 10:30 – 4 pm and 6 – 10 pm.
