Riviera del Sol is a popular residential part of Mijas Costa, due to its great location, easy access to Marbella and Fuengirola, exceptional golf courses and a wide range of bars and restaurants. The area is small enough to get around on foot with tree-lined streets and easy access to the beach.

 

The area has grown and now many people call it home all year round. There are several places to do your shopping, as well as numerous places to dine with many having terraces in the sun.

 

Riviera del Sol beach is a long strip of soft sand, the sea here is great for cooling down during the hot summer. In the center of Riviera del Sol is a charming park named Princess Diana Park and Gardens, a nice place to sit in the shade or enjoy the sunshine.

 

As mentioned, the location of Riviera del Sol is perfect to access the many towns and activities nearby. La Cala de Mijas is very close, only 15 mins walk away. Calahonda is only 10 mins walk away and there are buses that can take you to Fuengirola or Marbella. In front of the main shopping area, there are licensed taxis.

 

If golf is your game, you will be spoiled for choice with many golf courses closeby including Miraflores Golf located in Riviera del Sol. There is the Mijas Hipodromo, only 10 mins drive away, a fantastic sports complex which hosts horse racing all through the year. Also located nearby is Mijas water park, a great day out for all ages, with many water slides, chutes, wave machines, lakes and much more, its a fun day out and a chance to cool down.

 

Riviera del Sol Transport

Public transport provides access to the entire coastal towns including La Cala de Mijas, Calahonda, Fuengirola, Mijas and Marbella. In Fuengirola and Marbella, transfers can be made to travel further east to Malaga, Nerja and beyond, whereas on the other side, transfer at Marbella bus station for buses to Gibraltar, Tarifa and beyond.

 

Transport is also available by taxi. There main taxi rank in Riviera del Sol is located in front of Riviera Plaza.

 

By law, all Spanish taxis must have a charges book, listing the prices from each destination for different times of the day. If you have reason to believe the quoted fare is higher than expected, ask the driver for the charges book to confirm the price.
